It’s fun. Who knew?

I just finished my first session of sitting down with the intent to write a book. Enough planning and outlining. Today, I actually put butt in seat (or, in this case, butt on inflatable ball) and wrote. I don’t have a word or page count but that’s fine. I don’t even know how the Google Doc pages translate into actual book pages.

I had some paragraphs already written from a few false starts and test. They made for a good running start.

It’s satisfying to see connections form. I knew I had to get from point A to B and the more I wrote the more the connections appeared. Even while avoiding the obvious (cliches averted).

I have three chapters (2, 3, and 4) in the air so far. Next time I sit down I’ll continue on chapter 3. I thought I’d just be working on 3 today but I realized after a little while (I have no sense of time here) that I needed to provide some background on a certain phenomenon before it actually came up. So, I went back to chapter 2 and spent the rest of my time there.

Yep. Enjoyed it.

Ctrl-Shift-C will give you a word count in Google docs.
